Project Context
Project Summary
In the tenth quarter, the BRACE project continued to make substantial progress in improving resilience and food security in Turkana County, Kenya. Key achievements include providing the final round of food assistance to 715 vulnerable households, supporting the installation of water systems for agriculture, and facilitating Cash for Work (CFW) activities that helped communities rehabilitate and expand farmland. The project also distributed vegetable seeds and supported Farmer Field Schools (FFS) and Pastoral Field Schools (PFS) to boost agricultural production. Despite challenges such as rising food prices, ongoing drought, and insecurity along key transport routes, the project adapted by promoting local food production and enhancing community-led water management initiatives. Overall, the BRACE project has significantly contributed to stabilizing food security, increasing household incomes, and building resilience against environmental and economic shocks in Turkana County.
