The Honorable Kim Rudd, MP for Northumberland-Peterborough South with Steve Matthews, Executive Director for ADRA Canada

On August 6, 2019, an exciting press announcement was delivered at the ADRA Canada office in Newcastle Ontario. Kim Rudd, MP for Northumberland-Peterborough South, made the announcement on ADRA’s behalf.

BRIGHT, an acronym for BReaking barriers, Improving Girls education, Hope and Totality, is the latest development project that has been awarded to ADRA Canada by the Canadian government. It is a four-year project that will improve access to quality education for girls in the countries of Myanmar, Sudan, and Niger.

BRIGHT will have two major Canadian partners: Sick Kids Center for Community Mental Health and Salanga. The project will contribute to improving educational opportunities for the most vulnerable, out of school, girls and women in the target countries. BRIGHT will be working in some of the most remote, fragile communities, including those in conflict and post-conflict zones.

The ADRA Canada office is honored by the trust given to us by the Canadian government to manage this project and we look forward to serving vulnerable young women, living in these difficult regions of the world.
